As a self-professed Monk of Anime... I now choose neither. I used to be all about Dubs, and few Subs; but I think that ultimately it's a futile argument that will spin it's wheels long after I anime is probably gone the way of the dinosaurs.

I watch what I want, pretty much the way I feel most comfortable at the time. If something sounds better with a Japanese track, then I go that way. If it's something that I like the English Dub on, then I watch it like that.

I don't bother getting bogged down by the rediculous details of hyphenated honorifics and whether or not the inflect just right on someone's name. It's just details that are meant to drive weaker minded viewers with a compulsion for obsessing crazy.

I watch a lot of anime fan-subbed... but then I also recognize that it's usually made by some joker in his mom's basement and a heafty Japanese to English dictionary; and other times, there are some that are genuinely good -- grammar notwithstanding.

Everytime I see a debate raging on about subbed or dubbed, I want to malee them in the back of the skull, and tell them to grow up, and get a real life; to quit being huge babies and stop giving a damn about what everyone else does or thinks. Some people actually watch their anime in a language not English or Japanese... **le gasp!**

So I think the best I can do, is just support it. It doesn't matter how. As long as i contribute to the cause, right?

pretty much how we all view it either way, but personally i stilll prefer the jap over any english version.

Melee-ing someone in the head is called a skull punch, if you do it hard enough you can make their nose bleed. =)

I only watch my fan subs by big name subbers, so I don't tend to worry about mistranslation.
My only problem with dubbed at the moment is how badly the voice actors dub over it. When that gets better I'll be happy.

I would like to see a collaboration of both though, a Japanese anime, where the English/American characters in it actually speak English instead of Japanese. Then sub it for them. Obviously, that would only be for English speaking character. I think it would make it interesting, but I guess it would put a lot of people off.

An example of an alright English dub that I've seen it Akira, I've watched it both in Japanese and English I have to say that both are done exceptionally well. Plus the voices match the characters anatomy rather than sounding all too out of place.
