Between McAfee and Norton, which would you prefer?

Honestly, I would choose neither of them. I have had bad experiences with products from both companies. And it was 10yrs ago when my family stopped using Norton products, because our brand new computer got infected within 30days after we bought it. Norton has gotten better though, McAfee is just a tad lower on the scale than Norton though.

If you want to know what I am talking about, view the stuff below it will provide some helpful information.

Internet Security Tests and Comparisons run by Matousec

Security products on a 64bit Windows7 platform:
http://www.matousec.com/projects/pro...64/results.php

Security products on a 32bit Windows platform:
http://www.matousec.com/projects/pro...ge/results.php

On both those tests, Norton provided better protection against the threats they tested for.

Tests ran by AV-Comparatives

Anti-Virus performance tests:
http://www.av-comparatives.org/image...e_nov_2011.pdf

As you can see from that test, Norton had less impact on the system than McAfee did in almost all of the tests.

On-Demand Anti-Virus Scan test (right click scans through Windows Explorer)
http://www.av-comparatives.org/image...od_aug2011.pdf

Whole Product "Real World" testing
http://www.av-comparatives.org/image...t2011_2_en.pdf

The tests from AV-Comparatives, normally just test out the protection of a products Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware engines. I usually go with the Matousec ratings because it tests everything within a product against many infections that plague normal everyday users.

I hope that helps you a bit LD-Skipper.

Speaking of viruses, if you were to make one for the lulz, what would it do?

I would have it make the computer continuously loop with a red screen of death (its worse than a bluescreen).

And that every time the computer reboots, it deletes an important system file. And the only way to get rid of it, would be to format the infected computer securely with at least a 4pass secure erase method.

Who would be your first victim for the virus attack?

The same feeling you get when you are about to make a huge drop from a very fast roller coaster. XD

:d: :hurt::sob::waah::gasp::sigh: All the emotes in the world wouldn't be able to describe it....lol I have been busy, very very very busy. In the time I was gone (which I humbly apologize for), I went through 3 jobs, got myself a replacement car for my R.I.P 1996 Monte Carlo, and spent some time with a good friend that was going away for a while.

When I confessed my feelings to a friend that was planning on moving to North Carolina with her boyfriend. She rejected the confession, but decided to stay in Michigan, so broke up with him to stay with her friends.

I was still ok with this turn out.

Do you lean more toward Casual Gaming or Hardcore Gaming? :)
