RE: Emulators!

off course i use emulators, i couldnt live life without playing my damn Fire Emblem games. Currently using DoS Box, and Visual Boy and a few other mods for NES and SNES and Sega games.

A Emulator is a program that allows you to play older games from others systems on your pc instead of the actual system. However emulators are usually limited to 8bit graphics so you cannot play or use mainstream games such as Playstation, or X Box, witch is why most of the game that come out on those consoles usually come out for pc as well.

RE: Emulators!

ePSXe is a badass PS1 emu.
I have used and N64 Emu, a Gameboy Advanced and PS2 Emu.
Pretty good. =)

Demon_skeith 02-24-2012 05:25 AM

I got a N64 emulator somewhere on my PC, got to relive the glory days somehow.

Whyt Lindow 02-24-2012 07:23 AM

I'm still using the same old PS Emu, can't get enough of it's games.

CrescentOfLight 02-28-2012 07:57 PM

Oooooh.

So an emulator is that thing people use on their computers?

Yuffy 02-29-2012 12:51 AM

Lol yeah Rebecca. You can download emulators to play games from consoles like N64, PS1, gameboy, and others. Guess it's one way for people to play a good old game they didn't play before.

CrescentOfLight 03-08-2012 02:08 AM

Oh okay.

I don't think i have used one before.

AFAIK, you are allowed to download the roms if you own the original copies to the games you are downloading.

How was Chrono Trigger?
I never had the chance to play that during the SNES era.

It's a great game. But I first played it for the Nintendo DS remake when it first came out and it's a freakin' epic game! ^^

Is it turn-based, or real time?

Haha, I see.
Turn-based RPGs are great, although I usually prefer free motion. XD

Ah, yes! That game was simply amazing!
The first and only one I've played was Till the End of Time for PS2.
Unfortunately, I never got around to finishing it.
I was planning to purchase The Last Hope, but there were other games I wanted at that time. XP

Haha, the game was so long, it took me forever to reach disc 2.
Mainly due to the fact that I lost many times to most of the enemies in the game. XD

It took me forever to reach disc 2 as well -.-
Another game that I found annoyingly long was Dragon Quest VIII...took me years just to reach the final boss xDD Started playing the game somewhere in 07 and barely beat it last year o_O

Ah, I see. Man, how I miss playing that game. XD
I've also played Dragon Quest VIII, but never got around to finishing that as well. ^^; Actually, I don't think I even got far in the game. I think I stopped after acquiring that Crystal Ball.
That's only because I had other games I wanted to finish. XD

Just getting to beat that first boss takes hours because you have to lvl up to at least lvl 8 or 9 -.- But I beat that game and it was pretty good! :D I got both of the endings. :3

Haha, tell me about it.
Once I lost a couple of times to it, I just said screw this, I'll go fight more monsters. XD
In the end, I made sure I was the stronger one on the rematch.
There's two different endings?
I never knew about that, lol.

Yup~ But you you have to beat the game first, and then beat it a second time to get the second ending. :3 ^^ It's a happy ending instead of a blah ending with the princess and the Hero.

Haha, I see.
I love games that contain more than one ending, and have alternate paths to take which alter the story.

Kik 08-21-2012 09:25 PM

I use emulators for a lot of my older games and systems. It's just such a pain having so many consoles hooked up, or the games are so old they don't work anymore, etc. It's a lot easier and more organized for me, and we have a computer hooked up to our TV and a couple controllers so it's almost like playing the system anyway =p

Ambient-Symphony 08-21-2012 09:42 PM

Haha, I hear you on that. XD
Most people tend to hang on to their oldies for nostalgia value, or one day plan to sell them for a super high price to collectors since they become so rare. But I do admit it takes up space.
